Start Speaking Privacy Policy

Updated 7 October 2026

Who is responsible

Start Speaking: Voice Up is developed by Siarhei Khalandachou, operating under the Foxster Labs brand. For questions or requests about information you send to us, email [email protected]. This policy describes the app and this Start Speaking website.

Your learning data stays on your device

No account is required. Settings, learning progress, practice history, review queues and personal practice content are stored locally. Foxster Labs does not receive them simply because you use the app. We do not operate an app account or learning-history server.

Device backups and files you choose to export may contain this information. Their storage and sharing depend on your device settings and the destination you select.

Microphone and Apple speech services

Microphone access enables speaking practice. Audio recordings are temporary and support recognition and replay during practice; the app does not maintain a permanent recording library or upload your recordings to Foxster Labs.

The app uses Apple’s speech and audio services. Depending on your device, recognition mode and available language resources, speech recognition may run on your device or involve Apple services. We do not promise that every speech operation is offline. Apple’s permissions, terms and privacy information apply to its processing.

You can change microphone and speech-recognition permissions in iOS Settings. Denying access prevents the corresponding voice function from working; text practice is available where offered by the app.

Product analytics and your choice

We use PostHog Cloud in the EU to understand onboarding, feature use, practice completion, retention and operational issues. Collection is enabled by default. You can turn it off in the app’s Settings. We send a random installation identifier, app version/build and a limited set of product events and operational outcomes. We do not send voice recordings, transcripts, prompts, answers, scores, personal practice content, email addresses or support messages to PostHog. We do not use session replay, automatic interaction capture, advertising identifiers or location enrichment.

Turning analytics off stops new collection, clears pending events and forgets the identifier. Turning it back on creates a new identifier. This control does not delete events already received by PostHog. To request deletion of a particular history, contact support with its ID. We use PostHog’s hosted storage; we have not configured a custom automatic deletion period. You can ask us about access or deletion.

No advertising or cross-app tracking

We do not use advertising, advertising identifiers or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not sell learning data or voice recordings. Product analytics is used to improve this app and support its users.

Support, exports and beta feedback

If you contact us, we receive the email address, message and any attachments you send. We use them to respond, investigate the issue, maintain support records and meet applicable legal obligations. Please send only information needed for your request, and remove passwords, private conversations and unrelated sensitive details.

When analytics is enabled, support drafts include the current support ID and analytics environment. You review and send the message yourself. Sharing the ID lets us connect that event history with your correspondence to investigate the issue. Reading or copying the ID does not send a new analytics event. When analytics is off, new drafts contain no analytics ID. Previously copied IDs and sent messages remain under your control.

When you export or share files, the destination you choose handles them under its own terms. Apple operates TestFlight and may make testing diagnostics and submitted feedback available to the developer. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information for that separate service.

Retention, deletion and your rights

Local data remains until you delete it using available app controls or delete the app. Offloading an app may preserve its data. Manage backups and exported copies separately. Export progress you want to keep before deleting the app; Foxster Labs cannot restore information that exists only on your device.

We keep support information only for as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, investigate recurring issues or meet legal obligations. You can ask about access, correction or deletion of information you sent us. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent or a complaint to a data-protection authority. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. Legal retention duties can limit deletion.

These requests concern information we hold. We generally cannot access or erase learning history stored only on your device or copies held by a destination you chose.

Providers, website and security

PostHog provides EU-hosted product analytics. Apple provides platform, distribution, speech, backup and diagnostic services. Email providers deliver support communications. Cloudflare hosts these web pages and may process network and security information when you visit. Website use is described below.

Providers may process information in countries other than yours, subject to applicable requirements. We use reasonable safeguards for information we control, but no system guarantees absolute security. Device security, backups and export destinations are also important.

This website

This static website does not create accounts, take payments, upload voice recordings or offer a contact form. Optional website analytics is disabled: no website PostHog client, session recording, automatic interaction capture or analytics identifier is active. This is separate from the app analytics described above.

Cloudflare serves the site and may process IP addresses, request and security information to deliver and protect it. Cloudflare’s privacy policy explains its processing. Following an App Store or TestFlight link takes you to Apple. Emailing support shares the message and attachments you choose to send with our email providers.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when data practices change and give additional notice or seek consent where required. The date above identifies the current policy. Questions: [email protected].
