Brazilian Portuguese

Catch the number.
Keep the conversation going.

Prices, times, and quantities can pass quickly in a conversation. Practice listening to Brazilian Portuguese numbers as a skill in its own right.

Start here: thirteen or thirty?

Say each pair slowly, then cover the digits. In the number trainer, choose listening exercises and identify the spoken number before replaying it.

13 / 30
treze / trinta

Thirteen / thirty

15 / 50
quinze / cinquenta

Fifteen / fifty

R$ 30
São trinta reais.

It’s thirty reais.

For prices, listen for the complete number. For times, practice hours and minutes: oito e meia means eight thirty.

01

Give listening its own session

Open the number trainer and choose a listening exercise. Try to identify the spoken number before replaying it. Build the connection between the number you know and the sound you hear.

02

Replay with a purpose

If a number is unclear, listen again and compare your answer. Focus on the part you missed, then try another exercise. Set a comfortable volume and give the spoken number your full attention.

03

Return in short sessions

Practice a manageable set, take a break, and come back later. You can combine dedicated listening work with ordinary speaking practice for the situations you meet in Brazil.
